NYPD Lieutenant’s Benevolent Assoc. “Leaders of the Finest” Award

HEART 9/11 Team leaders were honored for their remarkable work at the NYPD Lieutenant’s Benevolent Association’s March Meeting in Suffern, NY. They received the “Leaders of the Finest” award for the bathroom modification they completed for a retired NYPD Lieutenant whose wife (a retired NYPD Police Officer) was recently diagnosed with ALS. HEART 9/11 remodeled their bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible. A barn door was put in, allowing easy passage to the bathroom. A motion-activated light switch was put in, allowing full attention to be focused on maneuvering the wheelchair in the dark. The International Union of Elevator Constructors Local One donated and installed a chair lift, allowing access to the second floor.
