HEART 9/11 Response to Ukraines Refugee Crisis

Refugee Center in Hala Kijowska, Poland.

On April 24th, HEART 9/11 dispatched an initial Rapid Response Team - comprised of members from the FDNY and LiUNA - to Jaroslaw, Poland. The team provided logistical assistance to Ukrainian refugees as they moved through the refugee processing center in Hala Kijowska, Poland. Our team traveled to Lviv, Ukraine, carrying medical supplies, food, and medicine, and returned to the United States of America on May 4th.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has authorized and invited HEART 9/11 to participate in search and rescue and recovery operations in Ukraine. These operations will be carried out in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, or Sumy regions. HEART 9/11 will assist with removing destroyed housing debris and critical infrastructure and in the search and rescue of civilians.

We are waiting for medical equipment, search, and rescue equipment, and logistical communication equipment to assist with emergency and relief efforts to be secured. We continue to assess the situation with our government contacts on the ground.

Please support our mission - there is so much work to be done.
