FDNY, NYPD, PAPD and the NYC Building Trades, recognized the world over, have come to define the safety, security and spirit of New York City — these are the expert volunteers of HEART 9/11. From the ashes of 9/11, this team leverages their unparalleled experience, including the extensive WTC site response and recovery, to respond and rebuild in times of crisis. HEART 9/11 has responded to the bayous of Louisiana, the plains of Oklahoma, the streets of Port Au Prince, Haiti, and local communities following Hurricane Sandy. Our members have shared our hard learned lessons and skills.

Respond immediately to natural and manmade disasters; Rebuild infrastructure in hard-hit areas to meet immediate needs; Recover by building resiliency for individuals, families and communities.

55 week sustained response in Brooklyn and Queens, NY (10/30/12 – 11/23/13)

120 homes gutted and made safe

Rebuilt 242 homes – 92 more than contracted – on budget, ahead of schedule, no injuries

362 families directly assisted by the HEART 9/11 Sandy Rebuild effort

Community Outreach


Over 300 people and families directly impacted by HEART 9/11 behavorial modification services through resilience boot camps and mental health first aid education
